The servo system pictured controls a web converting machine that is capable of producing paper envelopes at line speeds of up to 1500 feet per minute.
The envelope machine is nearly 65 feet in length, and utilizes anywhere from 7 to 14 servos depending on which options are selected. The control system replaces mechanical line shafts that made setup for product changes difficult and time consuming.
The servo control system also has the added advantage of providing superior high speed registration for print color matching, and for window panel cutting operations
